Termly Vision Review
Following discussion at our annual meeting, we are going to have a Trinity Notice with updates on areas of church life that don't always make the regular notices. This term, we are looking at Safeguarding, Buildings and Small Groups.
Welcome to our Termly Vision Review (TVR). This three-times-a-year notice gives some insight into areas of church life that might otherwise only be mentioned in our annual report.
Safeguarding
We are so grateful to Helen Heath and Jo Prosser for serving us as our Parish Safeguarding Coordinator and DBS Coordinator. They have both now handed over their roles, and we have a new role, reflecting the Church of England's recent developments in its approach to Safeguarding.
Our new Parish Safeguarding Coordinator (PSC) is Karen Pacey. Karen serves across multiple areas of our church and community, volunteering with Kids' Brunch, Street Pastors and Ashby Youth for Christ. You can read more about safeguarding at trinityashby.net/safeguarding.
We are also pleased that Louise Haywood will soon be handling our Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Administration. Lousie has extensive experience in safeguarding and has helped on our Alpha Course. You can contact Louise by email.
Finally, in line with the Church of England's desire to establish quality assurance in our Safeguarding policies, processes and procedures, our church council has appointed Noreen Mewies as our Safeguarding Quality Advisor. In this new role, Noreen will help us develop our approach to Safeguarding.
If you are interested in helping us organise our reminders for safeguarding training (and have skills in cloud computing, automation, and working well with people), please email Tim.
Buildings
In addition to addressing the growing gaps in our Stained Glass windows, our Building Sub Group, led by Phill Taber, has been working on obtaining planning permission (known as the faculty process in the Church of England) and handling routine maintenance. Recent items have included painting the church doors, servicing our church and hall heating systems, and decorating our church hall toilets. If you are interested in helping with the maintenance of our church, hall, or grounds, please email Phill.
Small groups and volunteering
Your Parochial Church Council (PCC) has recently appointed two new working groups. One is looking at small groups and how we might establish more home-based groups as part of our mission to be disciples of Jesus who make disciples. We will be saying more about this in the coming months.
The PCC has also appointed a volunteer review group that will assist with our Safer Recruitment processes and procedures. In particular, they will verify references for individuals applying for new roles and notify them if they have been successful.
